Wayne Black

Wayne B. Black has spent more than 45 years in security, investigations, law enforcement, and protective operations. Today he serves as a Senior Program Director with Salus Solutions, focused on large-scale event security and management in the United States and abroad. He has supervised protective details and special-threat assignments across Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, South America, and the United States. For more than a decade, he served as Security Advisor and Protection Detail Lead for former Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and the Rumsfeld Foundation.

After September 11, Black worked as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, supervising classified Red Team assessments at national-security locations and events. His work included testing security from an adversary's point of view: finding the weakness before someone else could exploit it. In 2010, Black and his teams conducted federal threat and security assessments at the Port of Miami and other U.S. seaports. Earlier in his career, he served as a law-enforcement group supervisor in the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Public Corruption and Organized Crime Unit and worked on a U.S. Department of Justice interagency task force at the Drug Enforcement Administration. He received awards and commendations from the Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney General.

Black has been qualified as a security expert in federal and state courts and has conducted threat assessments and training for schools, houses of worship, government organizations, and other facilities. His school-security work has included hundreds of evaluations and consulting connected to high-profile cases including Parkland and Uvalde. He is the author of School Insecurity: A Comprehensive Guide for Parents and Educators on School Security, Protecting Your Children, and Fostering a Safe Learning Environment, published in 2023.
